I have always believed that good journalism begins by paying attention.
I’m Jeff Sallot, a photographer and journalist based in Ottawa, Canada. For more than three decades, I reported from across Canada and around the world for The Globe and Mail. Later, I taught multimedia journalism at Carleton University.
I’ve made photographs since I was a kid. Today, I move between an iPhone and Fujifilm X-Pro cameras—different tools, same purpose: to notice what is revealing, human and true.
